Вынос мозга от английской актрисы, поэтессы, музыканта, режиссёра и много чего ещё Джейн Арден, что то очень креативное и загадочное в духе Макавеева и Морисси, художественный фильм-перфоманс о безумии как пути к истинному познанию мироустройства. Содержательную часть фильма нет смысла упоминать вообще, здесь действие - несколько отдельных эпизодов связанных между собой общей темой безумия плюс превосходная музыка чётко отслеживающая происходящее в кадре.

The film is based on director Arden's "A New Communion for Freaks, Prophets and Witches", a play she staged with the Holocaust women's theatre troupe. It is comprised of a number of different episodes, each exploring a specific theme – female exploitation, voyeurism, sexual deprivation, etc. The Other Side is also a reflection of its creator's brush with madness.
The key concept behind The Other Side is intriguing. The film argues that madness is part of a cycle that leads to sanity. It also stresses that this complex process is often misunderstood by those who have never experienced madness. Cultural and societal taboos are cited amongst the main reasons for its existence.
The Other Side is also a radical feminist film, one that does not shy away from promoting chaos as a form of liberation. Purely political statements, however, are not part of the film's narrative.
Viewers unfamiliar with director Arden's legacy will undoubtedly be shocked with The Other Side. This is an extreme piece of cinema, which I suspect even the most liberal of viewers may find difficult to tolerate. There is a sense of anger in it that borders nihilism in its most pure form.
The Other Side is a film Dusan Makavejev would have loved to direct. It is controversial, provocative and very, very disturbing. Highly Recommended.

Поначалу, все это было для них безобидной игрой, и «плохие» поступки заключались лишь в несоблюдении некоторых обрядов церковной службы (девушки не проглатывали, а вытаскивали изо рта украдкой «плоть христову») и чтению по ночам Лотреамона с Бодлером. Вскоре, впрочем, их асоциальное поведение стало менее безобидным, а закончилось все, разумеется, убийством и трагедией...
Anne and Lore, neighbors and best friends, barely into their teens, board at a convent school where they have taken a vow to sin and to serve Satan. Anne keeps a secret diary, they read a salacious novel, they get a classmate in trouble, they spy on the nuns, they set aside their communion wafers; they make a pact of devotion. Summer vacation starts: Anne's parents leave her alone with the servants for two months at the family chateau. She and Lore are free to make mischief. They are cruel as well and play games of seduction. As summer ends and fall term begins, things come to a head.

Как то раз среди ночи приходит в отель страшненькая девка, босиком, и утверждает что она - фея и обещает выполнить три любых желания, Дом в ауте и придумал только два, потом фея куда то пропадает, он её ищет, по ходу дела у них появляется ребёнок. События накаляются, далее - дурдом, тюрьма, кислотная погоня, взрыв и прочие приколы, в общем действо немного напоминает скетчи из Монти пайтона, с известным бельгийским киношармом, смотреть желательно покурив чего-нибудь)).

Three flatmates in Mexico City face uncertainties: Lucía who has a great job as an art director for TV commercials is abusing alcohol and cocaine. She risks losing her job, going to prison for assault, and she's woefully in love with a bullfighter who may be two-timing her. Carmen, an artist without income, can be manic - snorting lots of cocaine and hanging out with a gay man and a transvestite. What's her future? Hanna contemplates divorce from Abraham, a wealthy momma's boy, and she's disoriented by feelings of attraction to Sandra, a customer at her jewelry store. Can any of these poor little rich girls sort things out in a world of excess?
